Diego Villamar Dávila is an associate lawyer at Falconi Puig Abogados. He has over 10 years of experience in legal practice. He focuses on intellectual property law, administrative law, public procurement, civil law and commercial contracts, having also worked on constitutional, corporate, labor and arbitration matters. He has advised and supported multiple domestic and foreign clients, natural persons, companies and large corporations.

Diego is characterized by his in-depth knowledge of his clients’ business. He has a close handle on their interests and points of view and strives to provide detailed solutions for their cases and requirements.

His interest in other disciplines such as history, archaeology and chemistry enables him to provide his clients with a more personalized service in projects related to these areas.

Diego participates in the Inventor Assistance Program (IAP) of the World Intellectual Property Organization.

  • For several years, he has been directly advising one of Ecuador’s most active private companies in the field of research and development (R&D) on the management of its broad industrial property portfolio. This includes obtaining multiple patents of invention at the international level, applying creative and detailed solutions to overcome the often-complex objections of a technical nature formulated by the different international patent offices.
  • He has successfully handled multiple litigation and intellectual property enforcement matters for several of Ecuador’s biggest entities in this industry.
  • He has successfully participated in representing transnational entities in complex intellectual property infringement cases (counterfeiting of products by third parties) and public procurement.
  • He has participated in representing high-profile Ecuadorian jewelers, in the management and defense of their intellectual property assets at the international level, particularly with regard to copyright, as well as in the field of commercial contracts.
