Cecilia is a strong woman who grew up in the cradle of lawyers and who assumed the position of Managing Partner of Falconi Puig Abogados in 2020, ending functions on January 12, 2024. Her character and perseverance have made her a role model in the field of law.
She has focused her practice of more of 24 years mainly in intellectual property, regulatory affairs, competition, and business legal advice to important local economic groups and from abroad.
In intellectual property law, she has successfully managed the protection of important portfolios of distinctive brands in Ecuador and abroad; for the observance of protected rights, she successfully litigates giving special emphasis on the effective exercise of rights against unauthorized uses and infringements. Her participation as representative of companies has included proceedings before courts in administrative and judicial instances, also standing out in the field of alternative dispute resolution. She works in coordination with the Firm’s anti-piracy department; she has been a key actor and a referent from the private sector for the legal reforms corresponding to the matter. Her experience extends to geographical indications; she is an assiduous forerunner of their protection and defense, and of copyright. Cecilia is an expert in anti-piracy, counterfeiting actions and border measures on infringements of copyright, trademarks and designations of origin. Cecilia represents clients in a wide range of business sectors and industries, such as beverages, apparel, cosmetics, veterinary products, pharmaceuticals, hygiene, agriculture, wood, entertainment, literature, and publishing, among others.
In regulatory matters, Cecilia has successfully participated in various related issues to the approval and application of technical standards in which her management and coordination has always been developed with excellence towards the success of the identified objectives. Cecilia supports the regulatory area of the Firm in which she participates with her legal experience and technical understanding together with the professionals in the area. Within the framework of sanitary regulations, registrations and permits, Cecilia participates with her legal advice, in coordination with technical teams of multinational companies not domiciled in the country that depend on the efforts of their importers and distributors, in relation to the pertinent Ecuadorian legislation, regulations and technical standards, health records and customs processes. In an innovative way, the firm incorporated a department to satisfy the growing demands of the Cannabis industry, from here the firm seeks to contribute to the formation and adoption of regulations. In this way, the Falconi Puig team leads the legal and regulatory aspects of hemp and cannabis that is focused on the agro-industrial, medicinal, cosmetic and food and beverage fields.
Regarding to Competition, Cecilia has practiced antitrust practices, relevant markets, anticompetitive practices of public and private economic agents, unfair practices, and unfair competition in the field of intellectual property.
Cecilia advises with legal criteria in answering queries made by clients and legal firms from abroad regarding their commercial and industrial strategies, her clear strategic skills are appreciated by our clients, she regularly participates in various working groups on industry trends for government policy formulation in various fields.
